Mouse IL-27A
IL27A is part of the heterodimeric cytokine IL-27, formed with EBI3. It plays a crucial role in regulating immune responses, with both pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory properties.
Key Roles:
- T-Cell Differentiation: IL27A promotes the differentiation of naive CD4 T-cells into type 1 effector cells (TH1), while suppressing TH2 and TH17 cell development.
- Cytokine Production: It synergizes with IL-12 to enhance IFN-gamma production, driving a robust TH1 response.
- Signaling Pathways: IL27A activates several signaling pathways through its receptor WSX-1/TCCR, involving STAT1, STAT3, STAT4, and STAT5, as well as p38 MAPK.
- Inhibition of Pro-inflammatory Cytokines: IL27A suppresses the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines such as IL-2, IL-4, and IL-6, and promotes the expression of suppressors of cytokine signaling (SOCS1 and SOCS3).
- Antitumor Activity: It has been shown to exert anti-tumor effects and promote the production of anti-angiogenic chemokines, aiding in the regulation of tumor growth.
IL27A is vital for balancing immune responses and maintaining homeostasis, particularly in the context of infections and inflammatory diseases.
