Mouse IL-13

A key cytokine in allergic inflammation and the immune response to parasites. It stimulates B-cell proliferation and activates eosinophils, basophils, and mast cells. IL-13 synergizes with IL-2 to regulate interferon-gamma synthesis and modulates IL-33 activity by influencing the production of IL1RL1. It antagonizes Th1-driven pro-inflammatory responses by downregulating various pro-inflammatory cytokines, partially through NF-kappa-B suppression. IL-13 also affects non-hematopoietic cells, inducing VCAM1 in endothelial cells to facilitate eosinophil recruitment. Its effects are mediated via receptors composed of IL4R and IL13RA1, activating JAK1 and TYK2, which leads to STAT6 activation. Additionally, IL13RA2 serves as a decoy receptor that reduces extracellular IL-13 levels.
