Mouse IL-4

Secreted primarily by mast cells, T-cells, eosinophils, and basophils, IL-4 regulates antibody production, hematopoiesis, and inflammation, while promoting effector T-cell responses. It induces class II MHC expression on resting B-cells and enhances IgE and IgG1 secretion. IL-4 also regulates the low-affinity Fc receptor for IgE (CD23) on lymphocytes and monocytes and positively influences IL31RA expression in macrophages. It stimulates autophagy in dendritic cells via mTORC1 signaling. Additionally, IL-4 is crucial for cognitive functions like memory and learning. Upon binding to its receptors, IL4R dimerizes with either IL2RG or IL13RA1, activating JAK3 and STAT6 signaling pathways.
